Professor Anne James
Honorary Dean
Professor James is Honorary Dean at Britannia College. Prior to joining Britannia College, she was the professor of Data Systems Architecture at Coventry University and Head of School at Nottingham Trent University, UK. Professor James has been active in teaching in higher education and in participating in research projects as part of national and international teams. Her main duties currently involve leading research, supervising research students and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Professor James has successfully supervised 30 research degrees and has published more than 150 papers in peer reviewed journals or conferences.
Dr Charalampos Karyotis
Associate Dean Academics
Dr Karyotis is Associate Dean Academic at Britannia College. He has worked as a lecturer and teaching assistant at Metropolitan College Greece and at the National University of Athens. He has professional and academic background on AI technologies, and lead the commercialization process of new innovative products. He works as a research director at two start-up companies, where his role involves proposing and implementing intelligent solutions to real-world problems. Dr Karyotis has a PhD on computational intelligence from Coventry University, and has published several articles in peer reviewed journals and international conferences.
Dr Shahid Mahmud
Associate Dean for Strategy and Planning
Dr Mahmud is Associate Dean for Strategy and Planning at Britannia College. He is Eisenhower Distinguished Fellow, Member of Advisory Board, Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship, MIT Visiting Distinguished Fellow, National Defence University Distinguished Fellow, Eisenhower Fellowships. Dr Mahmud holds a Doctorate in Computer Sciences from Coventry University (UK). He is also an Eisenhower Distinguished Fellow and member Board of Trustee Eisenhower Fellowships.
Dr Tomasz Maniak
Associate Dean for Projects and Research
Dr Maniak is Associate Dean for Projects and Research at Britannia College. He has a demonstrated history of working in computer software, big data analytics, machine learning and automotive industry. He has successfully managed commercial projects related to traffic congestion forecasting, taxi demand forecasting, driving assist systems and industrial computer vision. He is responsible for developing a patented deep learning-based algorithm, which has achieved state of the art performance for a wide spectrum of application areas. Dr Maniak has a PhD focused on Computer Science and Machine Learning from Coventry University.
Dr Saadia Mahmud
Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning
Dr Mahmud is Associate Dean for Teaching and Learning at Britannia College. She has over a decade of work experience in finance and two decades in higher education. She graduated top of her MBA class from IBA, University of Karachi and read for a MPhil (Management) from the University of Cambridge. She worked at Citibank and as a lecturer in management and finance at the IBA, SZABIST and L’ecole for Advanced Studies. Following her PhD (Business and Management) from the University of South Australia, she worked as a research fellow, lecturer and academic developer. Currently she is an Online Facilitator in the MBA program at the Australian Institute of Business and a management consultant.
Dr Mohammed Lawal Ahmed
Operations Director for African Region
Dr Ahmed is Operations Director for African Region. He has recently defended his PhD viva in the use and adoption of autonomous vehicles at the Institute for future transport and cities in Coventry University. Previously, he holds Master of Science with distinction in Operations and Business Management from Glasgow Caledonian University and Bachelor of Electrical Electronics Engineering from the University of Benin. He has several years of experience working in different roles as a consultant in Engineering, Finance and Higher Education in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. He has vast experience recruiting international students from India and Nigeria for universities in the UK.
